Want to explore what Engineering really is?

The WiE Holiday Camp is aimed at Year 11 students who self-identify as women, and who have been identified by their teachers as interested in STEM subjects, creative, problem solvers, team players and leaders who they think would make great engineers but who aren’t already strongly considering engineering. Students attend a three day, day-camp with the Faculty of Engineering. Students will spend time exploring the campus and taking part in a range of hands-on activities.

There will be a series of activities tied to the different specialisations offered by the Faculty of Engineering. As part of each activity the students will hear from an expert- a role model who is actually working in the industry and can share about real world applications for the activity. They will share their story and answer any questions the student has. Further to this, the students will be invited to take part in our High School Buddy Programme. 

The event will wrap up with a shared lunch at the University of Auckland with parents, guardians and whānau in order to celebrate the students’ achievements over their time with us, and hopefully to get the parents excited about engineering too!
