Our Smart Carts activity combines maths and physics concepts. Students use weights to manipulate the distance a cart will travel. The activity is only interested in the distance the cart travels over its deceleration period, as it’s slowing down. This is not easily measurable with something like a ruler and so students will need to calculate this distance. This activity is designed for Year 11 to 13 students taking maths and/or physics, however, it can be adapted to be suitable for younger classes.
